Default Cruise Control Issue

Hi,
I have a 1998 vette that has a fussy cruise control. It works fine on smooth pavement but dis-ingages on rougher roads. Very frustrating on long trips. Thanks for any input.

I think your active handling is canceling your cruise. When it sees different speeds on the wheels, it cancels the cruise control.

I agree. Turn off the Traction Control or Active Handling if you have it and see what happens.

Mine might disengage at anytime and not particularly on rough pavement. It will do it about once a day on a long trip.

I tried turning off traction control. Seemed to help but still dis-engaged.
Is this a wheel sensor issue? What all involves replacement fun?
thanks

It might be the clutch/brake switches are not adjusted quite right and a slight bump or body movement might cause the switch to disengage.

There's one on the brake and one on the clutch pedal.

Mine will disengage if it perceives I have too much speed in a corner. Like not disengaging it on the clover leaf and off-ramps. I have never had it disengage other wise. It is connected to the yaw sensor or G meter. I run with the active handling off if the pavement is dry.

The C4 corvettes Cruise Control was a function of a vacum line. Are the C5's the same? Any chance one of your vacum lines has a slow leak which works during "easy Crusing" but not during the more complicated stuff?

Try pulling down on the plastic panel under the steering colum. There is a switch activated by the clutch that is mounted there and its tempermental. It thinks you are engaging the clutch and that turns off the cruis control.

I will put on 500 miles to Blooming Gold rally and test out some of these ideas. Thanks Bob

On the C5, cruise control is all electric.
