Default Trunk doesn't close

I have an 01 Z and every once in a while when i try to close the trunk it doesn't want to latch. Some times it takes two or three tries before it latches. I notice that when i hit the trunk release button it sounds like the lock almost resets itself normally and then i know i will be able to close it. But when i don't hear that noise i know it's going to give me problems. So i don't know if it's electrical or the locking mechanism itself or what.

Try closing your trunk with the door open.

Something if the car is closed up tight the trunk or hatch back wont close
