Default C6 Z06 shifter in my C5. Does it need modified?

I am thinking of putting the C6 Z06 shifter in my 98. I read that it needs to be modified. Any idea?

It does not need to be modified. Just make sure you buy the entire unit.

You can get it at GMPARTSWAREHOUSE for a great price.

Here is a link.

I have one in my car and many other people have installed it also with great results.

You will likely have to modify the shifter boot. I had to cut the top of the boot on mine to get it to fit over the bottom of the shift ****.

Little tip too.. once you cut the boot and get the shift **** on you can turn the boot inside out over the **** and use a zip tie to hold it tight around the bottom of the **** (there is a little groove around the bottom of the **** that you can zip tie around). When you fold the boot back down it should look like it has always been made for the shifter.

No modification necessary. It's a direct replacement piece !

Kurtomac,

I apologize if I offended you No harm intended. My post was a reply to the thread starter, C3spdrcr20, not aimed directly at you
