Default Vararam and P0410 code

Just installed a new Vararam. Installation was a breeze thanks to Cajundudes instructions. Drove the required amount and it runs great, seat dyno is up. I never had a P0410 code (secondary air pump failure) before but first time startup after the Vararam was installed it came up. Now I get it constantly. Both inlet and outlet hoses are connected. Pump runs and I can feel air blow at the exhaust manifold. Pump shuts off when it should during warmup.

So what gives? Does it need more dial in time? I read that there is a vacuum hose under the battery to the solenoid but I don't see one at the pump. Does a '97 use vacuum or is it electric as I see a pump solenoid relay. Any ideas appreciated.
