Remote Fob - 99
I have a case of my remote fob not working. Changed the batteries, checked the fuses, and tried the re-learn, but to no avail. Now, I have read that if your TPMS sensors are shot (which my four appear to be), then the fob won't work. Any suggestions or tips?

You have a '99 vette. The 97, 98 and 99 came with passive entry remotes. If you don't replace with the same passive entry remote...it won't work.
Is the new one you purchased equipped with the pasive entry feature, or is it the standard remote?

That's why soldering your current remotes are best and cheapest solution.

That fob doesn't have the passive feature switch on it.
Does yours?
This part number is on the back of the passive fob
I'm pretty sure there were 3 fobs for the C5.
97-99 with passive switch.
2000-ONLY which is a 1-off piece of ****
01-04 which are the most desirable after an OEM upgrade to the system

I've owned three '99 C5's and bought one brand new, which I still own. All '97-'00 models can use the passive FOB, all 97-99 came with Passive FOBs. I've struggled with this over the years, just as you are now.
Soldering is #1 easiest and cheapest remedy. When it works. Otherwise finding a used passive FOB is option #2.
Online retailers tend to advertise the 2001 FOB for all years. Which is incorrect.
If you proceed with your Amazon purchase and find that it works...IM me and I'll buy you a beer. Both in NJ so shouldn't be too difficult to make it happen.
My bet is you'll be let down.

Unfortunately that one won't work either. 1997-2000 original FOBs have the little switch at the bottom for passive entry. So you need that FOB.

I know a bit about the fobs for these cars because I happen to have the shittiest version.
Luckily I have all the -01 to -04 conversion parts on deck for a future swap

For now I keep a sharp eye out for passive FOBs for sale under $100. And I treat the two working ones I have like they are made of glass.

I keep seeing mention of how expensive they are, but I'm seeing them all over the place for around $30. What am I missing? Mine are intermittent on my 02 right now. New batteries and the relearn didn't help.

The 01-04 FOBs can be purchased for $20-$30.
The passive FOBs are no longer in production. Early year C5s with RFA frequency will NOT accept the new FOB for 01-04.
