Default G92 Performance axle Ratio vs. 2.73 Axle Ratio?

Hello All,

Does anyone have a feel for the differences in performance I will notice between a 2000 Corvette Coupe with the G92 Performance axle ratio vs. a 2000 Corvette without it? I am looking at a used Vette without the G92 option and wondering how much performance I lose and in what capacities? Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated!!

I had a 99 with the G92 (3.15), better performance than the 2.73.

Unless you want to brag to your friends about the great gas mileage your C5 gets...............order the 3.15! I had the 2.73's in mine and it was a dog :smash:

Get the 3:15........My'98 came with the 2:73's and that's the only thing
I'm not happy with. You CAN get some mileage like 27 mpg driving 70.
80-85 at 2000 rpm; but 3:15 would be the best IMO.

Opt for the 3.15 rear...GM would prefer you get the 2.73 and help them meet CAFE (fuel economy) standards. I had a 2.59 standard rear for my automatic '94 C4 and Camaros/Firebirds used to eat me for lunch from a stoplight.

the 2.73 and then get a good set of used 3.42's and a TC and you are good to go.

I had an 01 coupe with the G92(3.15) option :D

I have an 02 vert with std. 2.73 :cry

There is a difference in SOTP performance. so if you are not planning on changing out the rearend, like I am, then you need to find a car with the G92 option.

I got real lucky, the dealer screwed up and messed up my order and gave me the standard 2.73 instead of the 3.15. I was mad :mad but, it turned out to be a blessing. I changed it out for the 3.42, Oh what a difference I love it

My '98 Coupe came w/ a 2.73. Great mileage, but no good off the line. If you're planning to swap rearend for a 3.42 (like I did), the 2.73 doesn't matter. Otherwise, go w/ the 3.15. Good luck...

If it's going to be a street driver, it doesn't matter IMHO. If you're going to occasionally drag race it, the 3.15 is mandatory.
