C5 Reliability Poll....
Since the C5 has been around a while I thought it would be good to do a poll on any reliability / maintenance issues that have occurred.
If you have had any of the listed issues that cost over $100 to fix and/or over 4-hours of your time please chime in! (If you choose electrical, please add to your post if you drive it/park it in the rain)
If you haven't had any major issues; CONGRATS!....please select that option as well!!!
Thanks

No real issues............
No real issues with either the 2000 FRC ( non with the FRC) or the '01 Z06 ( rear axle seal at 900 miles and colum lock fix , both under warranty).

Within the last month and under extended warranty, replaced column lock actuator (even after the recall was done), replaced the ABS modules.

2023 C5 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
Most of my snags have been the common ones:
Leaky diff
Dead battery
Bad door control module
Bad EBCM
I'd say the Vette has been just a little worse than average but not bad at all for a high performance sports car.
My car has been garaged throughout its life. never saw rain in Vegas and I try not to drive in the rain here .......... which is way harder

Original battery took a dump, that's it!

Safety Car
The only thing it "needed" since I got it last fall was the shocks went bad. I upgraded to C6Z shocks, installed cost me about $500.
I had my passenger seat motor start going bad. I just pulled the fuse so I haven't spent anything on it yet. It's going to be a $100-200 used part buy to fix I think. I'm waiting, it's just the passenger side.
I've got a bad wheel/tire sensor. Haven't bothered yet because I'm looking at new wheels soon anyway. It's about $80 I think for the new sensor.
No engine or trans issues yet.
Overall I don't think these are unreasonable things for my 99, a 9 year old car. Very happy with the C5 in every way. Ride is great. Good MPG's. Compfy. Fast. Fun!

For those that have had electrical issues such as window motors or door locks, etc...please indicate whether you drive/park it in the rain.
I am curious if the issues are moisture related....

Original battery died and that seems to have caused the column lock problem and than the door module right after that. $1000 later everything has been great. Don't wait for your battery to die is my advice. It is always parked in a garage and always washed very carefully as an answer to you question.

That is why I never go for the 6/60. Now some GM cars have a 5/50 standard, like most European models.
Tell the truth, after the 3/36 who has had to used all the warranty money? Most lie, tell the truth.
