disconnect batt.
mapp gas on the 6 manifold bolts
remove hpipe, if stock?
2 bolts on starter and wiring, note wiring location
simple job w/ lift
pita w/out lift and mapp gas, PB Blaster will also help
post of pm if need help
follow GM torque settings on starter bolts
note: GM had 2 different starters? or at least there was a change in bolts
I would pm 'valvegod' for a new starter

if its the same as my 98 coupe fairly easy, disconnect battery....drop exhaust from manifold......pb blaster and/or mapp gas a must (ask me how i know 3 broken studs later)...dont forget to unplug 02 sensors in the pipes (you'll see them)...remove 2 bolts on starter.....drop starter remove both wires on starter. then reverse procedure
i heat wrapped my new starter just as a precaution and type A++ disease, not sure if it will help but eases my mind.
i did mine without a lift but i agree it would have been much easier with lift.
one of the best things i've done....went from starter lug to sounding like a jet ....i just love starting it now!
other posts said the solenoids are bad about corrosion so after i made connections i sprayed the battery terminal red spray on the soleniod connections....again type A++ disease
good luck
