Shifters...2007 into2001?
I went to toys 4 tots this weekend and saw the shifters on the new Z06.
Will they fit in a 2001 Z? The years I'm asking about are 2007/08
thanks

The C6Z06 shifter into a C5 is a popular mod -- lots of threads with instructions to be found in a search. I have one in my '04. You'll need a new leather boot or to modify your old boot. Details in the threads.

I've already installed mine. If you are patient the modification of the stock shift book is cake. It also will save you $40.00.

what makes the 07/08 shifters better than c5Z stock
is it more precise, just shorter in height and throw, better loooking, why is it better and worth the change...thanks.

The C6/Z06 shifter has a rearward bend and a nicer ergonomic **** which makes the shifter feel more precise. Some describe it having a shorter throw. That could be because the lever might be slightly shorter than C5/Z06 shifters.
There are no 9/16-18" threads on the C6/Z06 shifters...the **** attaches with a single fastener that attaches at the side of the lever.
The '97 to '07 oem C5/Z06 and C6/Z06 shifters are all basically the same stamped steel with rubber isolated lever and rubber "bearing" that encapsulates the lever. The difference is the bent lever (with threads or without threads) and improved leather ****.
Reportedly, the C6/Z06 '08 shifter was somehow improved for better feel...but, I've never read anywhere what GM did to improve it.
Everyone that has changed out to the C6/Z06 shifter and **** swears by their better feel and improved looks.

i went from a stock shifter,to a ripper to a stock 07 z06 shifter. the z06 shifter feels like rubber maid compare to the ripper, but the ripper is hard to work. i cant win. i might go back to the ripper and try the tanny mod. it might be the best of all 3.
