I getting a groan noise when turning steering wheel left or right. Power steering has been checked and flushed. Do you guys think this is a sway bar bushing problem. Vette is an 2001 auto coupe with 50K miles.

Does it make the noise while turning the wheel at a stop? If so, it cannot be any part of the sway bar assembly as it's not even moving. Possible culprits would then include the steering knuckle, steering rack and power steering pump/fluid (which you said you already had checked).

Anytime I hear the word Groan,I always think wheel bearing.

Of course if this happens when you are not moving, that would put an end to that theory.

Thought I would throw that out since you did not state whether you are in motion or not

Noise is heard while parked. Is it possible to lube steering knuckle or sterring rack?

Not the same thing but I had a squeaking shock......you might find yours easily by getting it on a rack.

I have a similar sound that is driving me nuts. But it is coming from inside the steering column. It will make this same moaning sound even when the engine is off.
