Does anyone have a GM hot cam in their C5........
Hello Forum,
I was wondering if anyone has the GM hot cam in their C5? I would really like to get in on the MTI GP now on either a T1 or B1, but my service dept. said that if THEY put in a GM part, that it wouldn't void my warranty. I would like to know if you like the cam, and how it runs in your car. If you set off any trouble codes or needed PCM tuning. Thanks in advance for any info.

I have the cam, highly recommend it, feel that computer tuning by Ed Wright or Cole is essential however, and most drill a small hole in tb to assist idle/prevent surging. I made 396 rwph with this cam in my M6, see sig, and it probably has a little left in it as I still am running slightly rich. I feel this cam is an awesome value for the money and as you said, if they will honor warranty, it is the way to go. The stock cam is def. the weak link in the standard C5 you will get a very nice boost, def. go with long tube headers at some point to complement the cam, dif. air intake is obvious. Also, consider getting the new style intake manifold if you have a 99 or earlier, I did.

Thanks, good info.
I wonder if anyone would place the specs of the GM vs. B1 and T1 cams.

Get that statement in writing from them. GM oil cooler voids warranty

Not to be a smart ****, but JUST what does NOT void the damn GM warranty??????
I have read post after post of GM, disallowing anything, and everything.........one, just because of a NON GM clutch disc!!!!!!!!
I mean, whatever happened to common sense??? :mad

The only thing I've had denied was o2 sensors because of the nitrous (burnt the sensors up). Can you believe they wouldn't warranty them. So I saved the $165 each sensor plus installation, and put 2 o2 sims in instead for $80. :D
Other than that, they've warrantied everything including a GM direct 3.42 rear that I had put in by a speedshop. Guess they didn't see the vortex, GMS MAF, LT Headers, cage, nitrous, and Vigilante TC when the were working on it. Or the drag radials. :D Now the rear and the installation is under warranty.

I have had the cam in since May of 2000 - maybe one of the first installs. No poblems but I have tuning by Steve Cole (TTS).
