Default change caliper pistons to stainless steel? cooler brake fluid?

Hey guys.

Are the pistons in a 2002 Z06 front calipers aluminum?

If so, anyone change them over to stainless steel for less heat transfer to the brake fluid?

I changed my 01 Z over to Doug Rippie stainless pistons on my track car. It seemed to help with brake fade at the end of the 20 minute HPDE sessions.

Stainless steel pistons help a great deal

Changing to DOT 4 or DOt 5.1 ( Five point one) Brake fluid helps a lot. Change it often.

Min WET not drying boiling point of 400* or higher

The SS pistons will help. Cooling ducts will help more. If you were to only do one I'd do the ducts, certainly before I'd do the pistons.

You can also get pad shims from PFYC. I have a set that I use on the front in-board pads. My dust boots actually survive HPDEs now.
