Gas mileage with 3.73 gears (M6).
For those who are curious on the difference in gas mileage with the 3.73's gears and 3.42's in M6, I've got results. I drove out to Cape Cod this weekend and I got 350 miles to the tank. This was not a light footed trip and I averaged speeds between 85-95mph. I went faster when I latched on the rear bumper of a Porsche 911 Carrera 4 from New Haven, CT to Providence, RI. We were hitting speeds of 120+ on certain straights with NO traffic and Police. Anyway I did this same trip in June with my stock 3.42 and I got 370 miles to the tank. ONLY 20 miles difference!!! I'm sure with normal driving I could have mustered 400 miles. Almost same gas mileage and better performance :D You can't go wrong with these gears!!!!!!!!!!!

C5_PIG : thanks for the info; very helpful in my mind.
I'm sure the gears are great in SOTP, but do you have an idea as to how those gears might affect your 0-60 &/or 1/4 miles times? I'm thinking this might be a great mod in lieu of going into the engine because I would hope that rearend work would prevent GM from threatening to void the engine warranty; so, before I considered this route I'd like to know actual performance affect? Thanks.

The gears would be great for these cars. $1600 is very hard to swing when I used to be able to do gears in mustangs in about 3 hours. I got better gas mileage out of my 98Cobra w/ 4.30's over the stock 3.27's and 3.73's.

I thought some of the good tuners gave a 3yr/36'k warranty w/ the engine work??

I'm also a little gun shy because the engine in my C4 roasted at 46k miles and was replaced under warranty, and I would not have wanted to foot the bill for that one on my own.

Thanks C5_PIG: I hope you have a great time on Friday.
BTW -- In the context of gas mileage, what are you finding is your cruising RPM around 65 to 75 mph?
