That's what i was suggesting in my above post (but not sure I made it clear). A 3/4" 16 pitch bolt fits just about perfect. The ID of the snout there is just barely larger than what you'd ideally use (off the top of my head, I believe it's .70" and .685" is what is ideal) but it'll work. You can bore it out a tick and go 1 size bigger if you want as well.

There's also just about as much length there, as there is behind it in the threaded area so you've got a decent length of thread engagement area.

Exhibit A

He started a similar thread on LS1 Tech and said he took the block to a machine shop and they said they should be able to fix it.

Oh in that thread he said the bolt broke about 3 inches into the snout.

His last words here were "I'm gonna go dig a pit, shoot myself and fall in".

Sorry, couldn't resist.

McMaster-Carr: M16X2 300mm long is what I used, some washers and the M16X2 nuts. See photo above.

Bingo, didn't fully understand your post but that is what I meant as well. I don't think he has any option at this point other than this unless he wants to have a machine shop try and salvage the original threads.
