Default 427 Idle Video

I had some requests for an idle video. I shot this one a few minutes ago.

The cam is a Comp XE-R 230/242 .591/.610 115+0. I have the idle set at 950 for now. I may lower it once I start tuning. The exhaust consists of Supermaxx headers with cats and a Z06 cat back.

I have about 150 miles on it as of today. It is running great. I wanted to use a cam that is about as drivable as stock and that is what I ended up with. The car will loaf along at and pull from 1000 rpm in 6th if you want it to and have no surging or bucking. It idles in traffic with zero issues.

How long have you had your SDPC 427? Any issues?

Hi Paul,

I don't think that I have used any oil yet (other than what leaked out because they drilled the dipstick hole too shallow and too large in diameter). I am using one of the other oils that SDPC recommends, Valvoline NSL Racing 10w-30.

Comp spec'ed the cam. I had planned on using a 228/238 115+0. They thought that the slightly larger cam would work better.

I will post dyno numbers (and probably a video) as soon as I get to the dyno.

I will do that. Any track times will be unimpressive though. The track is at an altitude of 4900 feet and DAs in the 8000 foot range are common.

We understand around here!!! We are up here at big elevation too (3500' and DA sees well over 6000' regularly).
