Copper washers on new SS brake lines?
Got new SS brake lines from LAPD and they came with regular steel (?) washers. I've read some stuff about copper washers... and some say you do need them and some say just the taper on the line threads work fine without copper washers and some say you'll get DIC codes and... well, you get the idea.
So, what's the answer, should I run out to auto zone and get some copper washers before I put these in, or just use the steel ones the lines came with?

the copper washers are actually crush washers and the reason they are copper instead of steel. I use them with my SS brake lines, so I don't know if everything is fine without them. I bought them at the Chevy dealer and they were $1.40 each if you can believe it.

Definately use the crush washers.
My husband and I are in the process of locating some for our caliper swap.
Just an FYI - do not use old washers. Once they've been 'crushed' - they should not be used again.

Well, maybe they are silver crush washers. I can say they are NOT attracted by a magnet. Anyone else bought lines from LAPD, maybe they would know. I guess I can just assume since LAPD are good members that they would include all the best parts.

2nd on the above, they're dead-soft aluminum and are made specifically for that purpose.
I actually prefer the aluminum ones as they don't have as much tendency to over-crush like the copper ones. The copper ones are better in a situation when you have that not-so-perfect mating surface though.

Crush Washers
I picked up a package (10) of crush washers from my local speed shop and they are silver. They are nice to have around.
