Your view on the C5 Likes, dislikes AND would you buy another one
I am strongly considering an FRC C5 when I get rid of My C4. Seeing the FRC only comes with an MN6 I am skeptical..but it's the only body style I really like. These Clutch Horror Stories spook me, I won't lie. I am done with mods though...and will keep it S T O C K. I seem to have MISERABLE luck once I mod the car with no disrespect to any tuners.
The question is, those of you who have FRC's or even a C5 for that matter; How do you like it? Answer a few of my questions below...and responses are GREATLY appreciated.

I don't have an FRC but have the Vert. It has the same lines as the FRC. I agree the FRC and Vert look really mean from the back due to the top sitting further inside the body. At any rate, the clutches are OK in the new cars but are not designed for the torture of the 1/4 mile over and over. I love my car and hope to get my wife one soon. Most probably and FRC. You will love the C5. It's frame is 4 times more rigid than the C4. They are awesome cars!

I own a FRC and feel it is a great car. If I had of just driven it with no mods it would have been a great car. However I just can't help myself when it comes to mods :D
About the clutch. My McLeod dual disk is working perfectly.
You will find the technology of the C5 much improved. Good luck!

The FRC is tighter, lighter and quicker.. it come with all the right stuff needed to go fast. I've had no clutch problems... or ANY problems

Yes, I would buy another one! In fact I did! There are many people on this forum, that have had every model year C5. I have a 97 coupe MN6 and a 2002 EB A4. I plan on getting a 50th anniversery.
You'll never look back once you've gotten a C5, no matter what configuration you decide on!
Good luck!

Re: Your view on the C5 Likes, dislikes AND would you buy another one (C5~Missle)
Ok, 1st of all, I LOVE MY 2000 FRC. but......... I have had a blown clutch @ 19,000 miles. Maybe I should not have been doing those donuts!!!
Anyway, all of the problems I have had with the car have been minor, or caused through the fault of somone other than the manufacturer.
GO FOR IT!!!

it's the best vette i've owned so far. i started of with a 78 l-82, auto. it was like driving a race car every day. very rough running, stiff ride, noisey.
my next was a 90 6 speed. it was a great car and i loved it. like the 79, it had that nice cozy "in the cockpit" kind of feel. for both cars, i didn't like the look of the fastback. i think you'll find that most of us old timers prefer the chopped of look of the rear of the roof. and that's why i like the looks of the frc.
it handles much better, is faster, smoother, more torquey, hence easier to drive in town and is just a much improved car. interestingly enough, when i first got it, i really didn't care for it because it lacked the cozy, "in the cockpit" feel. however, the other qualities of the car quickly made me a lover of the c5. if it had that feel, it would be the perfect car.

You don't waste any time! I feel it's time for a change. (From C4 to C5) I didn't like the FRC when it first came out...but now it's the only one I'd get. It looks plain tough! Meant for business. Regarding the clutch horror stories... Lots and Lots 1/4 mile the cars and roast the clutch. I am not one to go overboard with many 1/4 mile passes(I get killed by all the C4 Guys about this... but I don't give two good ****s., I do what I do) so I hope all will be well(We're still talking about ME HERE LOL). I again appreciate the responses. It'll be a little while...but I WILL be in an FRC(non Z06) C5 soon, Mark my words.

I have a Nassau blue 99 FRC and it has been a great car. My brother also has a C4 and no disrespect, but the C5 is heads and shoulders above the C4 in quality. The ONLY thing I hate about the car is the !#@^%@ emergency brake. Might as well not even have put one on the car. Other than that you will love it. Good luck.

this is my 3rd vette (77 coupe, 91 ZR-1) andit is the best yet. i do have clutch pedal problems when i drag race. i do race a lot, too, and except for the pedal not coming off the floor, the car is doing wonderfully. i have been running nitrous for about 8 months an a very frequent basis but have had not problems. love my car.

Re: Your view on the C5 Likes, dislikes AND would you buy another one (JD 90 383)
I am driving my 13th Vette, 6th C5, and have an Anniversary Edition ordered.
Every Corvette I have owned was a pleasure. I consider the C5 to be the best of the best, but I still miss the C2s and C3s. The only C4 I had was an 87 vert, so little comparison to the C5, but my son still has the 87 and enjoys it every day.
I am hooked on Vettes, have tried Porsche, MB, and a few others, but always come back to "America's Sports Car". :chevy :flag
Get a C5 in the model you like best, you will be happy with your choice!

I've only had my 99 FRC about 6 days. I queried the forum on thoughts regarding the 3 configs and which they thought was best. In the end it boiled down to personal preference. I got the FRC, mainly because I really liked the lines. I liked the way it handles, and I really like the way it fits me. so far, I have enjoyed it immensely! I'll keep you posted!

Re: Your view on the C5 Likes, dislikes AND would you buy another one (Mean Green 2000)
So far everything is great, and I love my coupe. I am a bit paranoid when I take it out of its safe garage. When I bought my Bronco back in 1987 I didn't hesitate to drive it like I stole it, but my corvette is my baby. Would I buy another, yes I think so, but would depend. The next one would have to be equal or better then this one. :seeya

Re: Your view on the C5 Likes, dislikes AND would you buy another one (JD 90 383)
Well, I wouldn't buy another C5 cause I'm a vert guy and there's no need to buy another C5 Vert. I'll take a look at the C6 but there are many problems with the C5. In fact, I've had more problems with my '99 C5 than with any of the other 4 vettes that I have owned and my C5 only has 8K miles on it!!!. I feel the GM workmanship on the C5 is poor. And I can't believe they are having new problems, like oil consumption. Thats just ridiculous. I would expect this on a KIA - not on a VETTE. GM needs to improve on any new generation car. I'll be keeping my C5 for quite some time and will certainly not be jumping on a first year C6.

Zoneblock, I'm with you...I'm on my second Vette and I still dread taking her out of the garage and mingling with the "traffic." She looks great just standing still! :yesnod:
