My '98 is my only car. I travel alot for my job. I leave it at O'Hare airport, and the last big snow we had, I couldn't get it out of the parking space. Corvettes SUCK in the snow. But that won't make me get rid of it,or stop driving it.

Its not the snow that will hurt your car, its the guy that slides into you from behind at a light or stop sign Thats why God gave us the Kia

Rural KC daily driver here! I wouldn't say they suck in the snow, but if it's deeper than an inch or two, you're plowing snow, not driving in it! I have a manual trans which I think is easier to handle. I actually prefer the rear wheel drive vette over my old '96 front wheel drive Accord...I'd rather fish tail a little than push through a corner!

Outside of the 2" rule, they drive like any other rear wheel drive car in the snow. Make sure you have full tread depth tires and you'll be fine. AH/TC/ABS make it better than most.

no pics of her in snow...but right now she is all i have (98 coupe)... last year i pwn3d about 8"s of snow... i got stuck twice... the parking lot at work and the driveway to my garage... the roads where horrible... you would see the peak of snow in the middle of the road and then i'd run over it and it would be flat 2 small lines in the snow (tail pipes)
make sure traction control is on and take it easy... obviously it's highly suggested that you have a fair amount of tread on your shoes..

I used to drive all my RWD sports cars (Camaro, TA, etc) in the snow back when I couldn't afford anything else. Ah, the days of "plowing" snow in my IROC-Z.
Dealing with the hassles of driving a light, RWD, wide-tired sports car in the snow...
Having an alternate vehicle to drive during bad weather...PRICELESS!!

I grew up in the north east and drove a camaro one winter. Was not fun and vowed I would never do it again. The next year I bought a Winter Rat for $400 to save the terror I had about someone hitting my baby.
But bought my 99 FRC in Maryland in March of 05. Headed through NY to see family on my way back to TX. Hit a snow storm all the way through OH. It was a 5 hour hydroplan on warn tires.
My advice, buy a $500 FWD Geo and park your Vet or take the bus.

Just bought Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP rated M + S Will see if the claims are right about snow. The OEM EMTs are SKATES. Hit about 1/4 inch of snow with only 5K miles on the tires and thought I was driving a tobobban. BIGHANK

Check out the Active Handling GM video they made to demonstrate how a C5 slalomed through some cones in a parking lot covered with snow; very impressive.

There are enough idEots on the road without adding any more risk factors. No snow, rain , salt or sleet for my car!
Thats what makes them special and not just another DD

In addition to some of the comments above, one of the real problems is when the deeper ruts refreeze at night and then you hit them in the morning or when parking in a semiplowed lot. Running over or into those bergs can do some damage to the underside and bottom edges of the car. Kinda like going over a concrete parking stop.

I am looking to get a C5 as my DD and use in the snow if needs be. The trend for the past couple of winters has been 2-6 "snow days" where there was a sizable amount of snow on the ground(which got plowed in a matter of hours) but made driving a low vehicle difficult. other than that there hasnt been much, just piles of snow on the side and salt everywhere. I def. wouldn't think of DD my WS6 in rain let alone snow(tires are a bit low/solid rr can be a handfull) but I think the Vette would be ok. Funniest part is that its still 50-60, I had the sunroof full open today!!....winter!....pffft!!!
