you could do like the guy in a post here on the tech forum and use helium in the inflation of your tires. he says that it lightens the load by 300lbs. I'd have to actually see that one on paper to believe it. Other than that if you are worried about weight on the street...just don't date a fat chick!!!

This might not work for everyone, but I got rid of my wife. Cut down on the gross weight and had the added benefit of reducing interior noise.

I have a spreadsheet at home that I made up of all my weight reduction mods, some intentional, some, just an added bonus to the mods I did. Here's a quick list of each mod and how much weight it saved:

Z06 Titanium Exhaust System.........................18
Optima Red Top 75/35 (33.1 lbs)......................4
Kooks Longtube Headers including:..................23.5
Hi Flow Cats
X-pipe

CCW SP500 wheels on 18x10/18x11.5 wheels....10
(includes weight of tires vs. stock runflats)

Total 55.5

You can also save a few pounds by doing such things as getting a carbon fiber hood which is about 10 lbs lighter, getting some lighter rotors, using a Z06 windshield which is 4 lbs lighter. Its all documented on the sticky in C5 gen as someone mentioned.

I took off a couple things. I only drove it about a mile and a half, but it sure felt quick 0-80 MPH!

I'm considering one of these.

As for the naked C5 above, was it ever put back together?

Here is two weight reducers, one is for the car. It offsets the additional weight I put on the car and will get me off the line quicker, ie chrome and crap liket that.

The tires I used instead of the runflats were much lighter, which was just an added bonus. tirerack.com has the weight of each tire in each size. Cut that rotating mass!

Oh you wait there fartsmeller! Once the bottle and hell maybe the baby go in. Your S/C and the Red Headed **** (car not the GF) will have a little run in

FYI for those who replied. No wife just a hot skinny GF with a nice rack and they are worth the weight! Bottle will come in due time, after clutch, trans/diff brace, outputshafts must come first. The damn aftermarket chrome Z06 wheels with BFG KDW's in 275's is killing me on the back at 61.5lbs each!!!!!!! GOOD GREAT GOOGELY BOOGELY!

I think i'm going to go for the 17in GTO spare tire for fronts for track purposes and maybe a Fbody 16in wheel for the back with some ET streets.

I'll check out the GEN Tech side and see what i can come up with and i'll post a play by play on my 00 FRC project Corvette FIT CLUB!

I used another forum member's idea: took out the passenger seat (I thought I read where it was 55lbs....not certain)

He took his out for additional storage. I took mine out to replace the plastic bezel, and then I'm like, "Man, that was easy!"

Can you run it on the street like a normal battery? Will it hold a charge? I ask, because I want one also.
