Default NEED HELP! shift Boot Removal

I am in the process of removing the shift boot on a 99 automatic. The center console is off but I am having a hard time with the four (4) pins that hold the shifter boot in place. Does anyone have any ideas on how to remove this without breaking it???? I appreciate your assistance! - Thanks!

I also put this in the general section.

Default shift boot removal

Did this recently. Manual VERY UNHELPFUL!
Use a SMALL SCREWDRIVER to free each of the PLASTIC hold downs that are part of the top sectiion.

TAKE YOUR TIME or ur chevrolet dealer parts dept will have a friend who pays thru the nose.

Watch it if you remove the ignition key shift lock hold down. Another enigma. Needs a small tool or screwdriver to release the PLASTIC locking mechanism. Leave it ALONE unless you have a good reason top remove it.

They built this to really force you to go to the dealer.

Take your time, remove one at a time and slowle lift up the housing.

Good luck.
