Picking up the car from Phil97SVT today :-)
This is going to be a great day. It's my twins birthday (7), and im picking up my car from Phil97SVT. Phil did the following to my car :
Changed out the TR224 563/563 on a 114 and installed the TSP228R 588/588 on a 114. I know it isnt much, but I wasnt looking for much gain. Just a little ... about 10 RWHP ( it was priced right to do )
Installed the AFR's 205 milled .020 off, GM gasket, ARP head bolts
Installed the new tunnel brace
Installed the LS7 clutch, 2002 + plumbing, Adjustable master cylinder
New rod bolts to hold the piston on the crank
S/D tune
We ran out of time for the gears, so that will be a future mod. ( that's when we'll do the DTE brace)
Im out the door to see how it cam out. I didnt want a radical car, just a little more than I had. When I started my build, my goal was to be at 410 RWHP. When I dropped my car off at Phil's I had 367 RWHP. I figure 10 more for the cam and 40 for the heads, and that puts me right at 420RWHP which is perfect.
Time to pick it up

I got home about an hour ago, and the wife just ran out to buy more birthday supplies.
I do have a new video clip at idle but wont have time to put it on until tonight.
I drive home mostly at 70-75 mph with the A/C and cruise on. Car felt like normal. No worse that stock, with the TR224, or the 228R and AFRs.
The clutch LOCKS. I didnt push it, but catch a gear, left of the clutch, and it locks. Ill have to break it in before I try it hard.
The tunnel plate makes the car stiffer. The car feel much more soild now.
I could get on the car to bad because my 75 year old father with following me and I didnt want to lose him, butthe car ran really nice.
The car runs really nice. I havent jumped on it, but I can tell it has much more power.
I reset the gas usage gauge before I left phil's and I was getting 30.2 MPG on the way home cruising at 75MPH.
The cam idles a little better then the TR224.
The car came out nice phil. Thanks

Congrats! Worth the wait? Sounds like it. SD tuning tames cams really well. You've driven mine with a 230-236 112 +0 and I have no complaints about drivability even in DC rush hour.
Phil's (Phil97SVT) the man!
Now go spend some quality time with the family.
Stop by Sunday if you get a chance.

Phil - Congratulations on your new setup! Sounds like another great job by Phil97SVT and team. I would like to check out your ride some time. Mike

I wanted to go alittle more radical but phil decided that the 228r was enough and he was right, the car is very docile and driveable. Power starts low and carries to 6500 with ease.

Congrats on you new found joy. Why SD tune may I ask, its not that big of a cam. Do you still have the MAF in place? Yes speed density makes it easier to tune but you dont have that radical of a setup and its not pegging the MAF. But as long as you're enjoying it, its all that matters.

Not only did I see your bike, I took it out for a fun run. Guess sam didnt tell you. I only dumped it once
I have issues, I got up at 6:30a to give the car a bath, drop the top, and get some sunday morning miles on it before traffic

Phil will have to jump in on the SD tune. Im clueless on it, but it works.
After a morning run, I really didnt take up up passed 3500-4000. And, I didnt push it hard to get there.
So on my normal cruise route this morning, the car drive felt the same as it did on the olds set up, as far as cruising. I only have about 150 miles on the motor and clutch so it's not time to push it. The car is begging to get jumped on, but Ill hold out for a couple hundred more miles. I can tell the air is flowing through the system quicker. I hear the vararam sucking more. Only good this are ahead. Its going to be real fun when I can jump on it. Y
If your at 500 BHP or so, the LS7 clutch should be a no brainer. For my useage, it grabs will hold fine
Cruising for about an hours and 15 mintues my oil temp was 190 @ 47 PSI, battery 14.1 ( I need a new battery. Its a 6 year old OEM), coolant temp was 174, and I was getting 27.7 MPG.
This is how the stars lined up yesterday :
Great kids Birthday party
Got the car back
Won big in poker last night
