Default Edelbrock vs AFR heads

Has anyone done any tests between these two?
I am looking for a new set of heads, I just read that a set of Edelbrock LS1 heads installed on a stock F body yielded 54 HP and 41 TQ (July issue of GM Hi-Proformance mag)
Is this "real", 50+ HP from just a head change?

Check with Andy at A&A Corvettes. He installed a set of Edelbrock Performance heads on my motor and they seem to be working just fine.

Well, not to debunk Edelbrock but the way the comparison was run I think similar results would be obtained with the AFR's as well. AFR's now have some history to them, Edelbrocks are relatively new. I don't think you can go wrong either way as they both produce quality products. Nice having these great selections in parts, isn't it?

I'll probably be going with the Edelbrock in a larger runner size once results come in for the L92 stoker we're doing this winter. Early results are very positive.

I'll have to see some real world results, I know how magazine testing can sometimes be "off".

I looked at the Edelbrocks before I purchased AFR heads. I figured if I were going to spend $2,000 + on a set of cylinder heads I should get some with a long track record of great results.

The Edelbrocks may turn out to be great heads, but I just haven't seen much evidence yet.

There are a number of stock cube cars in the 9's with AFR heads. That's enough proof for me.

The A&A Edlebrock heads are currently available in 215cc and 245cc intake runners, with standard and custom combustion chamber sizing.

Call Andy for delivery and pricing....

I like the level of components they use...only the best. Their design philosophy is to keep the ports cross sectional area small enough to be responsive and large enough to make power. Their testing is second to none. I could go on and on.

My AFR 205's came with Comp 921 springs. Not exactly cheap hardware.

Based on your description I thought you were describing the AFR 205's.
