It's a 4 speed with 3.23 and it feels almost as quick as the vette . I expected it to take second to the vettes exceleration , but it actually feels like much more pull on the highway . The vette just feels more exotic . Also the firebird feels like a lead sled compared to the nimbleness of the vette . The steering is much heavier . As are the doors . But the exceleration is neck snapping . If anyone is in the market for a second car the firebird is it . Of course nothing could ever replace the vette . Can't wait till my 2003 comes in . I'm droolin :yesnod:

The WS-6 will give the vette a good run, it will probably spank a stock A4.
Do they really offer a 4-speed ?

I just got rid of my 99 SS(6-speed) so I know what you mean. They are very fast.My car (SS) in 3rd gear was scary.

I'd say it is true. I've seen new WS6's dyno next to stock vettes. Very good run..would come down to driver I'd say.

Oh come on guys, you all have badass C5s, but you are too quick to dismiss the acceleration of the F-bodies. We share the exact same motors and the only disadvantage is the extra 200-300+ pounds the F-bodies have. Any heads-up race between a C5 and an LS1 F-body is going to depend mostly on the driver. Also, I'd much rather be at the wheel of a 6-speed F-body on the freeway compared to an A4 C5 any day. You will most likely get pulled by the 6-speed on the freeway.
This is assuming all cars are stock of course. Not fiction, just fact.
With equal drivers and comparible drivetrain setups (A4 vs A4, M6 vs M6) the Corvette should ALWAYS edge out the F-body. But don't kid yourself into thinking it will be a severe beating, it should be about 2 cars difference max. Its not like you will walk away from them.

Personally i wish i had the higher gear ratio in the vette . The 3.23's really do help. Also the seats(sport seats) in the vette are comfier , but the leather in the firebird is much higher grade . It doesn't make you feel like you'll wear it out (for the extra cash it you'd figure they'd use connely hides ;) ) Also i'd have to say they painted the bird better than the vette . For what reason i still have bare fiber glas at the corner of my driver side door i don't know , and lets not forget the absense of the black goop like i had where they bonded the roof of my z06 and my current vette . Like i said i still love the vette like none other , but I'm a little pissed that for 20,000 more dollars they couldn't have had a little better paint quality control :smash:

My last daily driver, a 1999 WS6 6 speed, dyno'd at 319rwhp & 331.6 rwtq. Basically stock except for an MTI lid and 160 stat. Decided to take it to the drags to watch a friend of mine race his 99 C5 coupe 6 speed. His mods were a K&N filter w/open lid, 160 stat, and fan switch, along with BFG drag radials. He turned a 12.55 @ 111.72 mph that day. On the way home we raced! Going through 5 gears at over 140 mph, we were SIDE by SIDE! Nobody moved an inch. We ran two times and both times we were neck and neck.
So the motto of this story, DO NOT UNDER ESTIMATE F-Bodies. :D I think I might be ready for another, 02 WS6? ;)

the f-bodies are fast cars, no doubt about it. I had a 99 Z28 MN6, and I think it was probably as fast as my vette. I think Vic summed it up pretty well...there is a much different "feel" between the two different platforms. When I bought the Z, I told the wife that this would be virtually the same as a vette....I believed that until I got to ride in a vette....They are two different cars with two different purposes/target customers. And if I were to race my vette and had to lose to someone, I'd prefer it was an fbody... Enjoy the new transam!!

Re: Just bought a 2002 ws6 transam as a daily driver! (97coupe)
97coupe....not to be a d!ck .... but I cal :bs on your comment ..... with an A4 with 2.73s .... you are EASY prey for an Fbody !!!!!!!!! I had an A4 3.23 Fbody WS6 TA....it would crush a C5 that was stock with your A4 and 2.73 set up :smash:
again not tryin to be a d!ck .... but give the F body some respect, stock for stock , a CLOSE match, and they are MUCH cheaper to MOD...so beware of the Fbody :boxing
thanks

There is a big difference on the highway too.In my 99 SS(6-speed) I would drop it in 3rd at 60-70 mph and I would probably leave your(A4) in the dust.

I believe you left him.If you raced my SS and I left it in 5th gear yes you would kill me but if I dropped the hammer to 3rd then it would be a very different story.I am not saying that you are misinformed but a lot of people underestimate the f-bodies due to their price. They are the best bang for the buck around....but I really love my ZO6 It all comes down to the driver

Jeez guys, the guy wants to share his happy news on a cool new ride and you turn it into a pissing contest. This isn't the kill section so take a hike.
:troll :troll :troll
BTW I love the Firebird WS6's. My wife wants one and I am oh so tempted.

I love my A4...it's down right hilarious to see M6 drivers work so hard, while I just push the go pedal.
