Default shifter code problem

have to get emission done so i went to get my codes cleared to turn the check engine light off. they cleared everything but said there was a code for the shifter and they didnt clear it, anyone know what might be the problem. I have b&m ripper shifter

Vinnie....A shifter code?? Are you sure they didn't mean a "skip shift light."

im not sure they might have, my skip shift doesnt work though for some reason the light comes on but doesnt work and it used too, i didnt install anything

The only thing I can think of is that your 1-4 shift cable is disconnected at the trans without having the skip-shift eliminator installed. If that's the case you can either plug it back in for inspection or buy the "eliminator" plug.
