Default P0140 Heated Oxygen Sensor code???

I have been getting this code more recently and usually about 5 minutes after starting the car initially. The code goes to history and after reset the check engine light goes off. Any thoughts????

Could just be time to replace the O2 sensor. If you have a scan tool, you can try some of the diagnostic procedures here. Assuming you have no wiring/voltage issues, it is most likely just the sensor. You can visually inspect the wires/connections to make sure you don't see any obvious problems. Have you made any recent changes?

Your driver side rear O2 sensor is bad, Gene Culley at Fred Beans a supporting vendor has the best prices and service for OEM sensors, I have checked several other places with slightly cheaper sensors, but the length may vary, and the shroud is not as protective, Gene got me the sensor in three days, it was at the time 98.65 including shipping.

The only change but not recent was a K/N filter install. It is a 2001 with a little oil consumption issue. Exhaust gets "dirty" on the tips. Could the sensor be coated maybe? I use about .5 qt every 1K or 1.2K miles. Thanks for the help so far...I guess the sensor not hard to replace?

Same problem, different car. My daughter's Envoy is caughing up the same code. Seems when it is cold and windy it goes off, I have a feeling the heating circuit in the sensor is getting soft.

THe heating circuit has failed under test mode. If you test the heater circuit you will see it is open

Unfortunately I don't have a Tech II to do it, but I did monitor it when she is driving and suspect the rear sensor is shot. Have to give Gene a call on Monday. Fortunately for the Envoy, the O2 is only $51, actually cheaper than the local Autozones and such, and genuine GM to boot

the rear O2 sensors each have a 45 inch harness, as oppose to the fronts with a very short harness

ok, I have this same code
P0140 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Circuit Insufficient Activity Bank 1 Sensor 2

but ive got long tube headers installed. Are the headers and hi flo cats causing my codes, or is it the sensor itself. I dont know, how to check the sensor, and i dont have any scan tools
