0-W40 is a hit or mostly miss at Wally world. When they have it I buy 4 at a time, which the most I have ever seen. Then nothing for several months
I use to use 15-W50, but I dont like the new formulation as my car runs 10* hotter with the new stuff.

Talk to the manager of the automotive section and have him order some just for you. I don't know for sure if Walmart will do this but I'm sure any of the auto parts stores will do it for you.

Thanks Guys. Wally world as 0-w40 on occation but not consistantly.
Been to three autozones, Capital BLV, New Burn and Falls of the Neuse. 7 qts of 0-w40 between them
found 2 qts at wally world in Wake Forest 3 qts at Super Kmart - near where I live. So 12 qts enough for first oil change and two track weekends. That gets me though Mid Feb.
Going to two pepp boys tomorrow.
PIA.
at least my local NAPA keeps two sets of rotors in stock at all times. There are 4 of us who get our rotors there.
EDIT: Time to find the Mobil oil distributor in NC and get a barral of it.

lets see 55 gallons =220 qts
220 qts / 10 qts per change = 22 changes
2 track weekends( event) per oil change
so 44 events 20-22 events per year
Hmmm 2 years worth of Oil.

My brother works as a salesman for automotive products and told me that the 5qt mobile 1 jug is sold exclusively to Wal-Mart....so, doubt you will find it anywhere else. They seem to sell it pretty cheap too, but it kinda sucks for the other resellers....
Good luck

At the rate you use the oil. I say buy the drum, as long as shipping doesnt kill you i'm sure you'll end up saving yourself a few pennies over all and have your supply problems taken care of.

Just curious, what are you running to use 10 qts., a dry sump and, with that much oil, why change so often?

As long as your getting drums, might as well get yourself one of those oil pumps, like at the jiffy lubes. Have a neat little setup. Who knows, maybe you can set something up with an oil supplier to just drop a drum off every now and then. Also you can start doin oil changes on the side for the nieghborhood to suppport you track events. The possibilities are endless....

Heck I do my own track alingments by hand plus corner balancing.
HPDE prep shop and real race / track equipment. NO WAXER & BLING chit, well maybe they pay the bills.

What I do is pour a full qt thought oil fill hole and let that qt drain though the block to get the sludge remaining in the bottom of the oil pan. That takes about 1/2 qt to get the sludge out and then the oil color is same as what goes in.
Why do I change so much?? Two track weekends or about 500 miles at 3000 to redline and constant oil temps of 240 to 260*. Oil goes in a nice transparent golden brown and come out opaque and black.
Oil testing / analyses by two different companies say two differnt things. One says I could go one more weekend / maybe two more the other says that the two weekends are about right maybe three weekends if nor running as hard.
When I change the oil I do reset the DIC to 100%. After one weekend the DIC Oil says 70-72% and after two weekends it is 30-35%
My car is a dedicated trck car and sees very little street time expect to bed in brake pads or rotors.

Yes Amsoil are excellent products, however, no oil can take the stress and high temps of racing as Subdriver does or the hard track days as I do.

The Mobil 1 0w40 has a pretty low HTHS rating for a 40 weight at 3.6. I'd consider AMSOIL SAE Synthetic High Performance 10w40 or even the AMSOIL Synthetic 5w40 European Motor Oil.
I'm happy to say the 10w40 is available in 1 gal, 4x1 gal, 2.5 gal, 2x2.5 gal, and 30 and 55 gallon drums... all conveniently shipped to your door.

The low HTHS rating of 0-w40 does have me concerned. Waiting for the last oil change analyses to come back from the two compaies I send it too.
May have to forget what we talked about and get the Amsoil.
I may be pulling the heads off this winter and doing a heads and cam project too. nothing like a good visual inspection.
Never seen 5qt jugs at NAPA. but there is a BIG NAPA store in Raleigh, they may have it.
