Default alternator probs

I have an issue going on right now that has me wondering as to the cause; My alternator doesn't put out any charge until it has "warmed up" after having run a while it begins to charge and everything seems normal. At that point I can shut down and re-start some time later and as long as it hasn't cooled off it will start charging as normal. When it sits long enoiugh to cool, it has to go through the whole warm up process again. I was wondering if the clutch pulley could be the source of the problem and if so what could be done about it?

Can you look inside the alternator when it is cold and NOT charging and see the rotor rotating? If it is, that would eliminate the clutch.
