it will upshift fine but anytime i go into 6th and try to downshift to 5th it wont do it. Regarless of speed or if i double clutch. If I put it into 4th for a sec and dont even engage 4th its fine. Sound like a blocker ring? Why would this occur all the sudden?

hehe yeah no kidding. Ill take it in for trans warranty work since there isnt much for them to screw up back there. Im gonna play with it some first though>

I was having issues with my '04 Z06 not wanting to go into some gears. I changed the diff and tranney fluid and it solved my problem. Tranny shifts great now. Both fluids were BLACK. I have 47 K on the odometer

the fluid has about 6k miles on it if that. its a mechanical issue no doubt. I just am not a trans expert.

As far as being cool about it. I've spent years getting pissed at cars when things happened and it didnt make things go any better. It just frustrated me and got me nowhere. Guess ive learned something in the last 4 or 5 yrs.

DId you ever solve this issue? I have this happening on my C5 where I can't downshift from 6th into 5th but I can upshift from 4th into 5th. I've recently change the transmission fluid and performed a shifter algnment and neither have solved the issue. Any ideas?

Sounds like the clutch is not fully disengaging and the synchros are having a difficult time slowing down. If it were me, I would bleed the SLAVE/MASTER cylinder and see if that helps.

Just for grins, have you checked the neutral gate adjustment on the shifter? Sometimes it helps to start with the basics.
