I am installing Dynateck LT's soon. Am wondering if I should put in heat mats in while the old exhaust is off? If so at which area.
Thanks in advance

Get one of the ceramic tunnel shields, it does make a noticeable difference. Since you'll have the old exhaust off for the header install, its the perfect time to install one.

One of the tunnel plates will reduce heat and make a large improvement in structural rigidigity! It is well worth the time to install it!

I got the VNM backbone, because it's thinner and stiffer stainless, and was coated for $175. I think they're all pretty equal. Installed it with the Dynatech LT's and noticed no increase or decrese in heat. The car definitely handled better.

You could also opt to have the headers ceramic coated inside and out, that should reduce heat intrusion over the stock set up. If running no cats, have the X-pipe coated as well.
