Default Can you make the A/C Compressor stay on during heavy throttle.....

What do I need to change with HP Tuner to allow the A/C to stay on during heavy acceleration? I do not mind any loss of power with it on. I just want cold air to keep blowing if I'm just under the WOT threshhold. Thanks guys & gals.

I believe the AC settings are in the System section instead of the engine section.

Also, I don't think the setting has anything to do with throttle position, but rather is tied to RPMs, which totally makes sense to me. Since the AC compressor is a pump, I'm sure high rpms could over charge the system, or even create a load that the AC belt is not designed to handle. If you really stay at high rpms long enough to really need to change this setting, I'd recommend getting a smaller AC pulley so the compressor still works within it's normal operating range.

Howdy Josh!

In HPT (V1.3 I assume), the AC on/off control is the EDIT menu, SYSTEM item, then select the AC tab. You can set the re-enable/disable right and like the poster above said, it's an RPM setting.

FYI, the stock settings on my '03 Z06 are: Disable @ 4895 and Re-enable @ 4545 That 4895 is right where the LS6 cam really starts working, so I guess they figure you're doing some "business" at that point, heheheh.

Oh yeah, there's also a TPS setting for fan control which I suppose works in conjuction with the RPM settings (?) It's RE-enable @ 0% TPS, and DIS-able @ 100% TPS.

So is look like it disables at 4895 RPM _or_ anytime you go WOT - then when you get off WOT, and the RPM drops under 4545 (unless you go WOT and just let off the gas completely, which would drop your TPS to 0% and re-engage it? Not sure about that though )

FWIW, I'll be leaving that alone on my ride - just the man said, you might not want to be spinning your compressor @ 6000+ RPM. I know when I had my RPM raised on my LT1 car, and I had the pretty new PS Pump fail on track, then I got the under-drive pulley for the AC and put like 10 events on the car with no problems - YMMV
