Default Anyone used the Predator to adjust shift pressure for jerky shifting?

I have a 99 A4 vert with a 3.42 diff installed a couple months ago. Shifting into 3rd is a bit abrupt and jerky. I'm slowly decreasing the shift pressure. Started at 0% change and now at -6% without any improvement. How much further should I go?

Also, should I change the shift duration time also or stick to one parameter at a time?

Thanks!

Not good at all. Have you thrown any codes? Did you ever get a check engine light? If you do, or if you did, then DO NOT just clear it out with the Predator.

Who did the initial programming following the gear swap?

Park the car until you can get it properly programmed by either a professional or someone who knows what they are doing. It is all too easy to destroy the 4L60E transmission in our cars within a matter of minutes. I have seen it.

The axle ratio has to be rescaled from 2.73 to 3.42. The WOT & PT Shift Points MPH have to be rescaled from 2.73 to 3.42. Was this done?

You need a good custom tune from whomever sold you the Predator.

I actually added 5% pressure on mine. I only notice it going from 1st to 2nd. Did you adjust the shift time or shift points at all? I have not adjusted any of the points (MPH or RPM) but I did subtract 15% from the time. I like the harder shifts with this setup. I agree that you should talk with your vendor for a specific tune for you new gear ratio.

I found the optimal setting w/3:15 gears to be -3% shift firmness and 3% slower shifter speed to smooth out part throttle shifts with the Predator tune. In my case 1-2 and 2-3 part throttle shifts were a little abrupt, this setting helped.

The fact that you are referencing only 3rd gear sounds like it might be something different, my shifts were and are pretty consistent across the gear ranges.

Thanks for the tips! I need to clarify that I already have the custom tune from Diablosport for the 3.42 gears and the car runs good and shifts appropriately. I am just trying to fine tune the abrupt shifts from 2-3 and maybe 1-2. I'm doing one parameter at a time to avoid confusion. I'm at -6% now which hasn't changed much. I'll try -10% today and go from there.

Next is shift duration time if necessary. I'm new at the tuning stuff and trying to be careful. Appreciate the concern from EB. Fortunately I read up on the gear scaling issue with the Predator before the gear swap and I was ready for the custom tune challenge!

I looked at a Predator tune a while ago. They zeroed the shift speed across the board. If so, you might try putting the pressure back to stock and add back some shift time. Changing pressure has no impact at WOT.
