Default Help! Headlight retraction noise

The driver's side headlight grinds for several seconds after light is down.

Anyone know how to fix?

Yes......you've got an actuator going bad (nylon gear). The only way to fix it is to change actuator. As far as I know, no one makes a rebuild kit for these so the whols actuator has to be changed. Had to do the right one last year myself

I've had problems with every C3 and C5 headlight door I've owned.

I glad chevy got rid of them on the C6

I think that the C5 setup is similar to the C4, or maybe just the same. The big Vette parts catalog company who name I forget, figured out a $6 nylon gear fix. I did both my previous car (not C5) headlights with their directions and great results. Probably took 2 hours per side, and the instructions worked.
