Default Ideas for New Radio Unit for 2000 FRC

I have a 2000 FRC. I would like to get a new Radio, I am thinking about one that has the touch screen that pops out. I dont really know if I need one that plays DVD'S. Also I am not really sure if I'll have enough $$$$$ to do the whole deal at one time (Speakers, Amp). So I will have the stock bose speakers for awhile. People on here bad mouth the BOSE Speakers but I haven't found them to be that bad.

Any Suggestion would be great.

I have a 99 FRC and spent a lot of time considering replacing the factory Bose. Bottom line, I had the unit pulled and sent back to Delco for repair. It came back in 3 days, works like new and cost me $270 total includuig the R&R.
The shop that did the work said that whatever I replaced the stock unit with it would always look "added on" since the stock unit is a Din and a half if you will size-wise.
If you can live with the surrounding plastic look of the adapter plates, you can install just about anyting DIN size. It will probably look less than original because of the size problem. Another problem that you should consider is that many other head units need kits to interface with the Bose in your car. Figure another $100 to $150 for that as well.
Just my 2 cents...

Today I had a Kenwood multimedia deck KVT-715dvd for $1229 and a bazooka tube with a built in 150 watt amp and looks like a nitrous bottle. They sell converter to keep stock speakers it was $60 from a local shop. The best deal I had on prices was at http://www.onlinecarsterio.com. Take a look at the bazooka sub its great look for shows. Good luck.

Sorry for the late reply. I sent it back becasue it was skipping horribly when playing CD's and the unit was warm. Delco probably replaced the entire laser module that reads the CD.
I was impressed with their service and I did get back my unit since the presets were the same!
It now works flawlessly!

Hey Paul,
I would like to see the installation. do you have any pics? How far does the LCD screen stick out on the dash? Did you need to move the AC controls or ashtray?
