Mike Norris Tuned my '98
Took the vette up to Mike Norris in Plainfield, Indiana for a tune this morning. The weather wasn't premium do to the rain and humidity, but we were really pleased with the outcome.
1st some history on the car. It's a '98 coupe M6 with 95,800 miles on the ticker. We have been slowly replacing this and that over the last year and a half trying to get all the maintenance where it should be. That being said, the following bolt ons are the only upgrades under the hood.
Long Tube Headers
High Flow Cats
SLP Loudmouth rear section
Vararam Cold air intake
92mm FAST Intake Manifold
LS2 ported and polished Throttle Body
160 Thermostat
NGK Iridium Plugs
Magnecore Wires
Mike told me that out of all the stock '97-'98 vettes he has had on his dyno, they usually put down 275-290whp. I dont have a stock baseline, but I did have a few runs on VU's dyno with just a Cat Back and the Vararam intake. I was at 319 on there dyno.
My baseline run at Mikes was 335whp. After tuning, 355whp and 367torque. If you took the low end of 275 base, thats an increase of 80whp with just bolt ons. 65whp increase using 290 base. Looking at the dyno chart, It has 320torque at 2000rpm which I really like. Mike sais that's thanks to the small cam which he likes.
I was able to find a few dry patches on I69 on the way home to romp on it a bit. It is a night and day difference how hard it pulls up to 6500rpm. 3rd and 4th gear pull as hard as 2nd used to.
Thanks to Mike Norris Motorsports
