Default Is the new style Card MAF better/benificial than the old style?

I have a 99C5 with the stock MAF and I was wondering if anyone has changed their old style round MAF for the new card style you can find on the 2008 C6's?

Is the new maf worth changing?

Roger

Short answer--leave it be !!! Screen and all !!!

Many people on 97 & 98's will will change to the bigger MAF--The reason being that a 97-98 ECM's MAF table only goes to 11250 HZ-On a 99 and newer however the table goes to 12000 HZ--
Only on a highly modded engine you will ever get close to 11250 let alone 12000 HZ ( more HZ mean more airflow) The problem when changing a 97-98 to the bigger MAf is that unless you change to a newer ECM--your HZ range will still stop at 11250 and if it goes above 11250 it will lock on the last entry and go static--
In your case your ECM HZ table already goes to 12000 even though you have the old style-Honestly there is very little power their to be gained---Your best scenario would be to change the ends-- BUT unless you have a programmer like HP or EFILIVE your fuel trims will go haywire and tuning is a MUST--It takes hours of data logging to re-scale a MAF after changing ends or going to the bigger size or removing the screen--
The MAF is stricly an air measuring device---A stock MAF is good for 500 HP--

What also happens is the fuel trims go way positive and the ECM keeps adding fuel to compensate for the different reading--You're not getting more air in---just a different reading than before at certain load levels--
BUT when going to WOT with a positive fuel trim-the ECM will ADD that % to your WOT fueling--makeing it pig rich and very lazy- It's not uncommon to see 15-20 % positive fuel trims when messing with the MAF--that's why tuning is a must and not an option--Adding 20% to your WOT fuel would be like pouring gas in with a bucket at WOT !!!!----
