Ok,here's my .02 worth.

I have an 02Z with VRB2,PowerDuct & Halltech MAF screen, that's all for mods.I bought an older model U7198 for a very good price and I like it.

I installed the Performance Tune and I would estimate that I gained about 15hp & about 10 lbs of tq.That is just how it feels to me.

I also turned off the CAGS and adjusted the fans. You can do lot's more than that PLUS I like the fact I can reinstall the OEM tune anytime. Most folks would agree a dyno tune is better, but if you are NOT going to drag/track your car, this is pretty good.

Tune takes about 15 min.Well worth the money to me.

If he has an older model,I would spend the extra $100 for a new one. They have better logging and can be updated by the Inet.

These folks have a good price:

Either way, make sure you register the unit and join the forum.Lot's of good info there.

you will notice nice improvements with it... but as dbaker said, you're better off getting a brand new one - it will allow you to save data logs, and do internet downloadable updates... go to concoursdirect.com as he indicated with his link - they have them brand new - with the 2 year warranty, for only 299...

you'll gain better throttle response, better acceleration, and a solid 15-20 hp/tq gain.

also as dbaker stated, join diablosports forums, there's a lot of good info and tutorials over there about how to do the datalogging correctly, how to get your fueling dialed in for even better improvements, etc etc.

and a custom tune can be had for a very reasonable cost, which will gain you even more throttle response, accleration, stronger/harder pull, and better mileage - all via email.

I just added (this past Sunday) the Performance Tune to a bone stock '02 Z06 and I'm impressed with the improved throttle response and slightly better acceleration. What exactly does this program modify? I have to think that the injectors are working a little harder and the timing was advanced a couple degrees. Does anyone know what the stock U7198 Performance Tune (v9r03, I think) specifically adjusts?

I also adjusted my fans slightly and the highest temp I've seen is 201...lovin' it and I haven't even gotten around to swapping in a lower t-stat yet. The best $200 (from a Craigslist ad) I ever spent on this car. This car is also my DD so keeping it reliable and virtually all stock is important to me.

no need at all to go any lower than a 180* t-stat... a 160* will stay open all the time, flowing coolant, and not give it enough time to actually cool anything down... stay with a 180*...

as far as what the diablo tune adjusts, there are a bunch of things... timing, knock retard settings, torque management, WOT fueling, etc etc etc...

Looks like you and I have similar 02Z's.My experience is the same as yours and I'm pleased with my results.

As soon as I start back working steady,I'll Upgrade mine to do logs.

Enjoy...

Could someone please tell me how to adjust the torque management with the Diablo? How do you go into it to fine tune/adjust parameters? (Thanks)

http://diablosport.com/index.php?mod...e%20Management

you have a manual, or an auto? no torque management in a manual stick...

if you have an auto, you should have the TM parameter available - BUT, if you have the newer version predator on a 9rXX revision, you won't have the 3 TM settings that they talk about in the above link... you will only have 1 setting - the third one in that list... the first two items are already done in the current tunes, so those first 2 parameters are not available via the predator anymore, since it's done in the tunes already.

hook up to your car... select the same diablo tune that you installed before... then go to MODIFY TUNE...

scroll through the list of parameters that you have available to adjust...

should be one called Torque Management...

you'd make your change, press the center button to save the change, then press the ESC button a few times to back out of the menus, and it will ask you "Install tune now?" - select YES and it will install the modified tune to your car.

That's exactly what I bought. I think the 180 will lower my freeway cruise temp from 190-192 to perhaps high 180's. And that present 201 peak should drop to around 196-198, and I would be pleased with that. Even had the A/C on today and never saw above 201.
