So here's the situation. Installed the headers finally and go to start the car, starts right up then dies. Let me tell you how the O2's are set up. This may be the issue. I used the rears in the front locations with flat to square adapters. Right to right, left to left, just like stock. The rear plugs are left open. Do I need O2 simulators for this to run? It's going to the dyno and they will tune them out so I thought no problem to leave them open...incorrect thinking, I'm thinking...Please get me straight !!!
When you 1st start the car up the 02's are NOT being used--It is in "open loop" mode and the fuel AFR is whatever is commanded into the "open loop normal " table---An 02 fault would not affect its startingg---usually on a cold enginethe coolant temp has to reach 140* before it goes in to 'closed loop" after the enginis warm it reverts to a timer --somethng like 20 seconds before it switches to closed loop--However even if you had an 02 fault the engine should NOT die--It just will remain in open loop all the time--typically with header installs you need to ADD fuel or richen up the commanded open loop table some or it may surge or even die like you say when starting it up--if it sputters and dies this sound like a fuel problem---If it dies like someone just turned the key off---then it almost sounds like a VATS or theft/alarm issue--OR when installing the headers you accidently unplugged or broke the low oil pressure swich --This is not the oil pressure gauge sensor but another low oil pressure sensor that kills the engine if it senses no oil pressure---
Sounds like you must have broken one of the small wires on the starter. It will do exactly that, start fine and soon as the starter basically disengages it dies.

I see no one has actually commented on this part. It may not be the issue, but is it a good idea to leave these open. I would think these should be capped with a bung, or does it not matter?
