Default How will dyno results change after gears?

Ok so last dyno result was 385rwhp, and that was before headers. I have not been able to get back for a retune since headers were installed and was hoping to do so, so that I could see what just the headers had done for me.
Well now I've gone and put 3:73's in the car and so things will be different, and will not be able to get the info I was wanting.

So here's my question.
Let's say I was @ 400rwhp and 400rwtq with the original 3:42's.
If nothing else changed but gears what would happen to those #'s?

Duh....I know they will not add HP but will the #'s read differently? Maybe not the HP # but would the torque reading come up differently? I'm not saying I'm adding or taking away actual hp/tq but will the dyno show a different # due to a gear change?

Like for example, would the peak #'s be the same but the rmp's in which those #'s are achieved is now at a different location in with in the curve?

Depends which dyno you are using, loss on the Dyno Jet, gain on the Mustang.

Many threads & posts on this!

Typically with shorter gears it will show a low number on the dyno, but not much.

Wrong. Gears will lower your readings on a dyno. Ask anybody that owns a dyno.

I think the torque 'band' shifts over a hair (down in the rpm band) and since hp is derived from tq and rpm the hp reading drops a few.

It has more to do with loading the engine. Technically, gears shouldn't matter. The dyno has a RPM signal and measures the engines' ability to change the speed of the drum. Gears increase wheel torque, so it should be the opposite of what you're saying. At any given RPM, the true wheel torque will be higher since the factor is higher. On the Eddy current dyno at Taylors, I make less horsepower with no load applied, but that's not a fair comparison to a standard Dynojet because the drum of the eddy current version is ~2500lb versus 4klb on the standard version. (weights subject to my poor memory and per Taylor).
