Welcome to the Breathless World of True State of the Art High Quality Ram Induction.
The guys at Breathless Performance made my Late Summer/Fall ! Got the Stage One Package plus tuning at Corvettes At Carlisle for my C5 Z06 and its amazing. Very professional staff who take pride in their work. Thanks again Ernie and Scott and Les....
I bought my 2003 C5 QuickSilver two months ago. It has the Vortex Air Rammer 'Clear Box' on it with a Corsa exhaust. I also own a 1988 C4 which is a nice car. But the 2003 C5 with the Vortex Air Rammer is Wicked FAST !!!!! I live here in Bowling Green and cannot wait for the Vette Race Days next year.

Reason: Fix a mis-spell
I also own a 1988 Red C4, which is albeit an automatic, the point is I feel very comfortable running with my big toe tickling the injectors in most all situations This 2003 C5 on the other hand is a beast of a different breed. When I let the Lion ROAR, I imagine I have the look of a person's face while free-falling in a elevator. That cheeks back with eyes wide open and exclaiming "OMG". Seriously, it has me intimidated and leaves me wanting more. But I know I need to take my driver skills up a notch (or three) just to match the performance jump. I LUV It !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ernie, Tell me something please. Is there any info on the Breathless website about feedback from Vortex Rammer owners and any concerns of driving in the rain ?? Again, I am a new owner of a C5 that has the Rammer on it and I was wondering. I just need to know what, if anything, to do or not do, in a normal driving scenario. Thanks.

You should not have any problems with water since the box is mounted at the stock airbox height so you would have to flood the whole air chamber to suck the water into the box.

Had the car out this weekend in rain and through plenty of puddles. Checked the Vortex when I got home; BONE DRY. Love this CAI. It sings when breathing as well.

I did not mention my Quicksilver is a six-speed running Michelin Pilots A/S ZP.
I have had the car for about 3 months. Last weekend I finally got up the nerve to take it (wild hair) to the local Beech Bend Drag Strip here in Bowling Green.
Before today I had not attempted any 'standing-starts' with this car. Today I made 4 passes My best time was only 13.1. My worst was a farce at 13.8. All of my runs showed a distinct lack of launch traction but once it hooked, were strong and all averaged 110 in the 1/4 mile.
The problem is my 275/18 Run-Farces would not bite. Obviously I had the traction control OFF and the tires kept breaking loose.
Overall once I ever got it to bite, it ran like a banshee with it's tail on fire heading to the nearest pond. I am very happy with the '03's performance overall, but here is a question:
After reading the upgrades done on this car, would you think this type of 'package' would also come with a 'tune-job' ??
The upgrades on the car involve a Breathless Vortex 'Rammer' Forced-Air-Induction System, a Hall-Tech Plenium. An improved MAF and improved Throttle-Body. It also has a Corsa exhaust. I was not advised of any special tuning although one friend suggested there may have been some because of the particular combination of 'upgrades' usually includes a 'tune-job'.
My best run:
R/T .145
60' 2.24
330 5.815
1/8 8.674
mph 86.37
1000 11.115
1/4 13.164
mph 109.49
I am fully convinced the Breathless Vortex Rammer is the key piece of equipment that makes the biggest difference between a 2003 base 350/350 LS1 and the BEAST that is my Corvette.
Eating those two hotrod-Mustangs was kinda Kool also. Obviously they got out on me quick, but darned if I didn't run them down once I hooked. I was excited and very impressed.

Ernie, we just spoke on the phone. Apparently it is about 08:00 PM Eastern Time. Dude, you are burning the midnight oil. Anyway, my car is a 2003 C5 QuickSilver 50th. It is the base corvette. I have the Rammer with the clear box. I will do as you suggested and be calling during daytime hours to get a price for a clear box replacement. Sorry I caught you late. I was thinking you were on the West Coast.

The 2 things that caught my attention were the "improved " MAF and throttle body "--- It's been my experience on a stockish bolt on motor---(no hds or cam) to leave the STCK MAF alone--it's good for 500 HP so there is really no reason to mess with it--A ported thottle body is fine--But it must be done professionally by someone who knows how to port them correctly--many guys mess their TB's up by grindiing on them without knowing what the're doing AND
Deffantely need a tune with the altered MAF and TB--Typically they make yout PT fueling leaner and when the ECM is adding fuel via your fuel trims to correct-- just before going to WOT then that % is addded to yout WOT fueling making it pig rich-- and sluggish--If you have the acces to a baic scanner --log your fuel trims--I would bet the ECM is adding tons of fuel at WOT--
IF the previous owner added those mods without a tune which i suspect-then YES the tune is messed up--
