I have a 2001 z06 with a mild cam, lts, orx, vararam and tr55s. I had set the ve tables perfect via hptuners, >26mpg, and when i brought it to a "performance shop" to set the timing and wot with his wideband. Got it back and it ran awesome at wot, but now i get 12.5mpg part time throttle lol. He doesnt seem like he wants to help me straighten it out so i need an awesome tuner around atlanta.
I was thinking mti or roy at dynolab. I dont want a conservative tune i want it to make as much as possible.

Yep both of em and also check peach state posse forum, vengeance and mti both chime in there too, and u can see there local feedaback, and also near jimmy carters blvd or chamblee something there's lamar walden, i know he got a dyno but dont know if they do tuning as well, basically he is a engine builder.
I would recommend Lamar Walden. They fix the other guy' s mistakes. He tuned my car to 750 rwhp. They know what they are doing, and stay real busy. Also don' t bother calling, you are better off stopping by and talking with Rob in person.
Another vote for Lamar Walden. They've got an older shop on Buford Drive in Gwinnett.. been around since the '80s. Second to none.
I was at the shop a month ago, and his brother Rob Walden gave me a tour. I could have spent all day in there drooling at the parts, equipment, and cars being worked on. One guy was cnc porting a set of cylinder heads. It was neat to see the machine do it's thing.

Reason: IPhone typo
I've heard good things as well from MTI and Lamar Walton.
The couple of discussions I had with Vengeance didn't leave me with a good impression of them
MTI all the way, best tune I'v ever had. Zero issues and my car drives like stock.
I needed a retune because of a cam change and gave Vengeance a call. Man they talked a very big game, so I gave them a shot.
They F@%$#* up my car so bad, every warning light and code there is was on before I got home plus it was running hot. I called and they said all I needed to do was unhook the battery for 15 min. that did not work.
What makes it so bad is Venagence taked alot of crap about MTI and made less HP ! Then tried to say MTI was inflating there numbers. When I showed them 2 different dyno sheets fron 2 different dyno's that read with in 4 HP of each other they still said the numbers were inflated. My car made 58X RWHP with the first MTI tune and after Vengeance got finished with it it only put down 49X RWHP. Vengeance tried to say I had the wrong cam.
After 3 trips at 8 hours round trip each to Vengance and still no better I went back to MTI and I have had no issues. Plus it made 60X RWHP with nothing canged but the tune.
My tune was fubar'd (on my old car) from Vengeance right when they opened their shop. The kicker for me was when Ron said during an argument about his tune on ls1tech that my fiancé was looking at [his fat azz lard body] with "I wanna F you eyes"
A comment that cras could have gotten a man killed a century ago...
The biggest waste of $475 ever. There are plenty of people with vengeance tuning issues, including the 1st friend I made here. Complaining about the nitrous tune. Of course, you'll never hear about it here due to the kiss a$$ vendor policy.
FWIW, We have BUILT over 900 cars in just over 3 years and tuned several hundred more than that from other shops/individuals... We do our best to please everyone, unfortunately that doesnt always happen. We DO offer free updates on tunes for ANYONE who makes any changes or it not 100% happy with their tune.
fastphil, I sent you a PM... If you get a chance please inform me of your situation so I can address it. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
Joshua, it seems from your posts below you were a very happy customer. Had you simply kept your VSS plugged in and not tried to drive without putting miles on your Firehawk your car would have ran perfectly fine... Remember most of the tables are based off of SPEED and RPM... With no speed signal, the pcm doesnt know how to calculate properly.
Lets not forget either that Mike was still an employee of GMMG Inc at this time and Vengeance Racing did not exist... Mike was still tuning VIA LS1Edit and this was over 3 years ago...... Not very valid to todays conversations...

Pics* Gained 40rwtq & 38rwhp with a Vengeance Dyno tune!!!
This shop is about to be a sponsor here so I hope I'm not stepping on anybody's toes...
Mike tuned it, Ron gave me a tour of the place, top notch work and the improvments speak for themselves.
I had 383 rwhp with a horrible 10:1 A/F ratio, and ended up with 421rwhp with a 12.8 A/F ratio. They also cleaned up the warm start roughness.
I paid the full $ amount that shops charge, but considering I gained 40 hp & torque, it's the best money spent on my car so far.

It was great meeting you!!!!! Awesome car you have..
Thanks Ron for the extra tour of the other shop. Very cool place to be for the last 4 years. I think you've become jaded over time, working on all those cool machines constantly. You have no idea how much the Dale Earnhardt SS waiting for the 454ci C5r has been on my mind today.
One dull spot, remember that code I told you was going to show up? Well, my check engine light is on so I bet it's that same sensor. I'll need to stop by sometime and get that code turned off. I know what it is, and if a rare occurance calls to diagnose something in the future that may be related, I can always have the code turned on to research. Not urgent, but I'd like a raincheck to kill that code sometime.
Thanks again, it was a treat! ~Joshua

Yeah, but with my SES code making my computer go to the default 5,900 rpm instead of 6,800 considering we ran from the bottom of 2nd into 5th and you only had a door to my bumper, can you really feel good about what's going to happent the next time we race?
You will learn what your blue lagoon can and CAN'T do.
Damian- Hell yes I'm pretty happy with those cam only numbers. I don't plan on heads, although the hp will be around 460 the torque doesn't move much. I think a Procharger should help in the torque department

I knew you'd slither into this thread sooner or later. I"m sure this thread will be locked before the day is over since you have a habit of whining to moderators on every board.
I'll make this brief.
I gave you a glowing review because I appreciated the tour off GMMG and I did gain that hp (which you now claim GMMG's dyno reads high. Funny that you think the same thing of any other dyno than yours) and later brought it back to Vengeance.. so don't lie.
But seeing what I got for $475 months later by getting a street tune (because the car was bucking and generally running like crap on the street even after your second tune done at Vengeance) I couldn't believe how little was done. No wonder the tuning never took long, because I probably got a canned tune with a few tweaks to the PE tables. And for the record, having other customers bring the car back for tweaks isn't acceptable. Get it right before the car leaves the 1st time. I'm sure many of your past customers would agree.
And personally attacking loved ones when the topic is brought up isn't fair. I know I don't have any real enemies in Atlanta, but I'm sure you do.
Feel free to PM/Call or even better yet come by the shop if you would like to address any of these issues you are claiming from your tune from over three years ago. I didnt chime in to turn this thread into a pissing match.
FWIW, this thread and ANY other thread good or bad is more than welcome to stay open on any forum... If I wanted to cry about it I would contact an admin instead of chiming in to try and resolve any potential problems a customer might have.
Vengeance might not have existed, but GMMG Inc (www.GMMGINC.net)was open for the previous 8 years building $100,000 Camaros/Vettes that were all tuned by Mike with no issues.... Reese would know as he worked out of the same building along side GMMG for a few years
Again fellas, Im not looking for a pissing match here.. Rest assured I realize Vengeance cars have turned up at both LWA and MTI... But dont think for a SECOND that we havent seen our fair share of both in our shop.... THREE of the cars in our shop RIGHT NOW are from these other two shops... Its just how the industry works... I dont look down on LWA or MTI for this... Sometimes people dont like their results and they go elsewhere without giving the original shop a chance... It is what it is.....
Nowadays its almost expected that you will be overcharged and/or receive half-ass work. Seems like that is the norm no matter where you go, race shop or not. Very sad situation...
But to answer the original question...My last 2 tunes have been with Roy, who works out of Grimes Machine Shop...he has done a good job both times and seems very knowledgeable. If you would like his contact info, feel free to PM me.
