I will be installing a 112 Maggie on my 99 FRC. The car has a Lingenfelter top end kit GT2 cam , heads , intake , LG longtube and a B&B cat back , with of course a Lingenfelter tune @384 rwhp.
the question is since I bought the complete system used and the superechips tuner was for a 02 automatic i cant download the initial tune from the tuner , will I be able to gently drive the car to get it Dyno tuned , or will I need to trailer it ? Distance to the Dyno is about 60 miles.
I would say yes---If it starts -runs and shifts it should be OK--Of course a must would be to take it easy--Do not get it into Power enrich.---at part throttle it will be in closed loop so it will should be safe as long as there is little or no boost---The headers by installation will richen up the commanded closed loop AFR of 14.68 anywaymaking it quite rich---You may have a "war & peace " script of codes
Thanks for the information Blu. sounds like the key to that is try to start , then see what happens from there ? When I make a decision on which dyno turner I use , is an alternative take the computer to that tuner to have him do initial adjustments , then re install to the car, or am I just wasting his and my time ?
The problem you may run into would be setting a P1514 and Reduced Power mode with the presence of any boost, and Roots-style blowers produce boost at a very low RPM (compared to centrifugal blowers), so it might be difficult to avoid.
But, since you are already tuned for heads/cam, the table responsible for causing that might already be modified such that it may not be an issue.
Easy enough to try and drive it a few blocks after installation, and see what happens. If you don't hit REP mode in normal driving, then it should be ok to drive it to the tuner.
Yeah the p1514 DTC will put it into a reduced power mode and will only let you drive it 25 MPH or so--and it will run like crap---However--you and reset that code and it will run normal again by turning the ignition on and off 3-4 times---When driving it again you have to really baby it--the more load you put on it will make it set again--the shifts are usually where it will set--If you are just driving around town and not on the freeway--drive it in 2nd the whole time to avoid shifting---
slight chance but as long as the 02 heaters are working and you don't run it too long it should be fine--
PS even in a stock engine while it is in power enrichment the 02's are not being used and the PE afr is pig rich in the 11.0 range-- so it should be ok
y2kvert4me and tblue, is correct, i just install FAST 90/90 on my bolt on car, and P1514 was throwing at me the moment u drive a block, otherwise starts fine idles fine, so i bought EFIlive tuner and first thing i did is change 20+% on ETC table, man what a peace of mind.
On a maggie iam 99% sure u will have to be dealt with p1514 code, unless Lpe has modiied that table and increase by certain percentage than u should be ok.
When u get P1514 code u get reduced engine power REP and CEL, car will still run but barely u can limb home if u r few blocks away though, car will down on power big time.
I also bought maggie head unit and now i have to find hood and other maggie parts.
