Hypertech Max Energy

i'm trying to decide on a performance chip. what do you think about hypertech's Max energy performance chip? any other good products i should look into?

I would just get tune from a reputable tuner. Our cars do not have chips and the EPROM is reflashed with new parameters from a laptop or handheld programmer. An actual tune will yield the best since every car is different.

But a good tune from a reputable tuner is always the best bet.

I have a max energy....and it was good for some SOTP power when the car was bone stock....after K&N intake and Magnaflow X pipe and exhaust....it caused major pinging, of course I can only get 91 octane here.

I agree with the previous posts---Any handheld programmer is to me not worth much--especially with an A4---AND if you live in a state with only 91 oct premium you can't use the higher performace setting or it will ping like heck--A handheld only chages 8-10 tables--but a real tune typically will adjust 75 to 100 tables ( the most tables are changed with an A4 tune) The price of a handheld is way up to about $350- $450--A real tune on a dyno typicaly is about $500 or a street driven tune without a dyno pull much less, between $150-$250
There isn't much left on the table on a stockish bolt-on motor anyway--maybe 15-17 RWHP is all--These cars are pretty finely tuned bone stock--I would wait and get a real tune--

I disagree with the not much left on the table part.....intake and exhaust bolt on..is usually good for 30-40 rwhp.....especially with a good tune.

I guess i didn't explain what i meant well enough---I meant there isn't much left on the table on a stockish bolt-on type motor in the way of getting more RWHP with TUNING------sure there is RWHP avaliable with bolt-ons-that's common sense--but a tune alone will only generate between 15-17 RWHP on the average ( headers are the only bolt-on exception as with headers to get the most performance a tune is required and that tune adjustment can create up to 25 RWHP as without a tune , headers can sometimes only show 5 RWHP
