If I have my car tuned by a tuner can I still use my Predator to change things like fan settings and torque management, and such without replacing the custom tune. Should I return the stock tune to the car before the custom tune, and if I do will the axle ratio and other changes I have made be returned to the stock settings? I was also wondering if the Predator would save the custom tune and use it for stock tune? Well you get the picture I hope, thanks for any knowledge / advise.
Thanks for the replies. Just to clear something up if I return my car to the stock tune it will unlock the predator? And when you lock it back to the car later it stores the present tune and not a canned tune as stock?
if it's not, and you restore the original backup, you're going to overwrite the dyno tune with the stock/GM tune it previously saved... so you'd be S.O.L.
Haven't had the custom tune yet. I was thinking of returning the stock tune from the predator just before I get it tuned. Then after the custom tune can I use the predator store the new tune and modify things like fans and shift points. I realize that if I installed the Predator performance tune at that point it would remove the new custom tune. Just wanting to make sure that it will be ( unlocked ) if I return the stock tune, and also that it will not delete the custom tune if I only modify the stock (new custom) tune afterward.
yes, you HAVE to restore the stock/original tune to the car BEFORE you get a custom dyno tune, so that the predator is unlocked, and so that they work off the stock original tune.
after they're done with your custom tune, and you hook up the predator, it will save that "dyno tune" as your original backup...
and you can make adjustments to it by selecting on the predator, the "factory tune", then modify tune... make your tweaks, then flash it...
the "factory tune" is a copy of the original backup stock tune, which in your case will be your dyno tune.

I don't see any reason for having to alter a CUSTOM tune with a predator handheld--Your tuner will do the fan settings and shift points for you--If you need some minor adjustments to suit your tastes--most tuners will do those for free anyway----ALSO--On a Corvette there is NO need to correct the speedo when making an axle change--The speedo sensor is on the output shaft of the rear end and not on the output side of the trans---however if you have an A4 you may want to adjust your shift points accordingly
I would just put it back to stock with the predator and sell it---
