Default Help if you will

OK, I think I understand the HP tune and I guess my question is would it be better for me to purchase a Pro set up and buy a mail order tune or spend the money on a Dyno Tune?
The car is a 2002 base coupe, A4 with the following being put on it, headers LT, 243 heads ported, a very mild cam comp cam 54-412-11.
Any help would be appreciated

Buy the Pro setup and a wide-band for little more than the price of a dyno tune. Once you drive out the door from the dyno, your money is gone, and you really don't know what you got for it. At least if you do it, you can see/measure the results and tweak them at any time with no additional cost.

I would spend the money on the required hardware to properly tune your car. Tuning is fun and challenging. Like stated earlier, once you dyno tune it, the money is gone. If you upgrade the car and require another tune, that is more money. With the wealth of information available, the learning curve is much shorter than it was a few years ago to tune cars.

If you know your way around an engine pretty well (old school knowledge) and have the current ability to pick at a computer keyboard with confidence then deff. go for the HP purchase---BUT if you question your abilities at either---you can be in for a frustrating experience---Then go for a dyno or a street driven tune---Many tuners will do FREE updates for minor mods so if you have some future plans you can it it retuned at no cost--If you do a hds/cam major mod then find out what they will charge you for that re-tune--mnay will not charge you the $500 again--bottom line--SHOP around before you buy and ask about the costs of potential future updates---

I notice that tblu92 uses EFILive to tune with. In my posted suggestion I didn't mean to rule out that tuning tool. As a matter of fact, I ended up buying HPT because I got fed up waiting for EFILive to release their tuner. In my opinion you can't go wrong with either product. There's a large body of expertise supporting both.

I agree--You can't go wrong with either HP or EFILIVE---Personally i think LS1 Edit is outdated and the Dynamic Spectrum Tuner is from the dark ages as well !!
