Should Check Engine Disappear on its own?

Hey All, I removed the AIR injection from my car and after about two days of cold starts the check engine light came on. I expected this to happen. However, after the light had been on for about a day it just turned off on its own. I still have the AIR removed and the light is still out. Is it normal for the light to go out by itself? Is this going to cause any other problems like forcing me to run in open loop? Might this cause the computer to suppress other check engine lights in case some other error occurs (like a broken TPS or misfire or something)? thanks
