Default Corvette Magazine Article LS1 2/07

In this highly regarded magazine the author states that the push rods on the factory LS1 are soft and need to be replaced with another specified brand, a new cam and lifters, all the standard stuff until the statement: "by reducing the air fuel mixture 5% they got an additional increase of 10-12 horsepower at the rear wheels!" The article claims 60HP increase overall at the rear wheels in the article, worth a read and comment.

I have reduced the air fuel mixture by 2% and thus far see no real concerns as the air fuel ratio is currently 14.5 to 1. Is 14.25 better? Don't want to stray too far before I start burning valves!

Help.

I assume they are talking about PE (WOT) mode. In closed loop mode it will seek ~14.7. If you get PE to ~13 you will have the desired result, forget the delta%.

In your mentioned article what was the A/F ratio before they reduced it by 5% ? If you are NA and your A/F is in the 14s at WOT I think you are flirting with disaster. I don't know anybody who tunes WOT NA above 13.8 A/F ? Personally I would run an A/F ratio between 13.0 and 13.5 on a NA car.

if that is your WOT AFR, you are in trouble. These cars usually have WOT AFR in the 12's, around 13.0 is as lean as you want to go.

Default Air Fuel Mixture

The WOT on the car was showing 14.85 with the peformance tune using the Diablo Predator sport, tunning down to 13.5 which will be about 8% or 3 beyond where the max allows.

Anyplace on So. Cal where this show car, actually a daily pampered daily driver can be taken to get the optimum performance, price is no object if the work is superior.

Thanks guys for replying, knew I had a problem with knocking at idle use chevron 91 premium, spark floats all over the place using diagnostics, need a pro to tune this beast.
