Default Rookie tuning prediction...

I am putting this in the C5 section because my car is a 96 bastard child of ODBII+LT1 and figured I could get more help here.

I am going to take my first shot at tuning and make a prediction and would like someone who knows what they are doing to tell me if they think I may be right.

I just bought a 96 LT1 with a stroker 383. It has a fairly mild cam (comp XE264HR). Other than the complete rotating assembly, the bore, and the valve springs, everything else on the car is stock. The car runs quite well with the exception being that when warm, and at idle, it has a minor fluctuation.

Based on what I have read (and I have read a LOT), I am thinking that when I get into the computer I will find the BLM values for the lower RPM/MAP cells pegged either on the high side or low side. No check engine light on by the way and it just passed our local ODBII emissions here in NC.

This is the only reason i can think that it would run as good as it does in all other ranges is that the BLM's for anything other than idle have not reached their boundries and the computer is able to compensate based on the values learned into these BLM cells.

I read that you have a max low of 108 and a max high of 160 in the BLM cells so I am thinking that the only reason the computer has not been able to learn the new idle values is that those BLM cells are maxed out in either direction and the computer can't compensate any more while at idle.

Does this sound like reasonable thinking? I will know for sure next week when I take it to have it dyno tuned (it is still running a stock tune) but I want to learn how to do this myself so I am trying to get educated.

Thoughts from anyone who knows what they are doing?

The problem is most of the C5 guys are LS savvy and because the computer and OS is different on our cars I am afraid at least I can't help. Sorry
