Default Recommendations on tuning programs please

I am going to be buying HP Tuners this week unless someone can tell me why I need EFI Live, or LS1 Edit instead. I need to have control over my a4 shifting tables, and I like the HP tuners site and link on this forum. No real reason other than that. Any recommendations/ or particular program limitations?

thanks for input.

Nevermind, I just read another thread, and decided to get it. Done deal now.

not sure there is a huge difference. HPTuners seems to have a large installed base, and a pretty active forum, along with some great moderators.

You'll really enjoy hptuners especially if you take advantage of the real time tuning custom operating systems we offer.

Okay, I don't even know what that means, but I'm sure I will be taking advantage of it once I know what it is.

I agree HP or EFILIVE--I have EFILIVE--I would make my choice according to who you feel you have a relationship with or who you feel the easiest to communicate with.As a tuner or maybe a beginning tuner as yourself--support is probably THE most important thing to help you when you get started and in a jam . I was on the phone forever when i 1st started and wrote tons of e-mails about specific issues and they were wonderful to me and always made me feel like they wanted to help---not just get me off the phone----You'll have to make a judgement call ahead of time I realize but use your own criteria.

This explains most of it, but basically we allow you to tune up to 25 or so parameters all in real time rather then having to shut the car down after every change you can alter things like fueling/spark/idle with the car running. Once you get your package you understand it a little better, but if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Yep!

I have EFI Live. Same great tuning but HP Tuners seems to have more of a following and on line support in the foruns! If i had to do it all over again, I would do HP Tuners! Nothing wrong with EFI Live but, I have found more and more people using HPT.

Is it possible to log with the HP Tuner or do you still need Autotap?

HP Tuners is great and works fine with Vista. Be sure and order a wideband when you order the software. It's the only way to do it correctly. I made up an easy to follow tutorial for doing the basic VE, MAF, and WOT tuning. PM me if you are interested.
