Keith

Does Hp Tuners offer customer classes ?

If so where are they located and how much do they cost ?

Is it possible to get a set of class notes with the purchase of a tuner ?

Thanks >>>>> INTHERED

Since this is back at the top I have to say that I have been using the black box logging every day back and forth from work and it has been nothing short of phenominal. It is great to be able to log and look at it without dragging the laptop around everywhere.

INTHERED - As far as I know there are no classes that they offer. I am on the HPT forum quite often and have never seen anything.

There are a lot of guides and information around for those learning to tune. There are a lot of people on the forum here and at HP Tuners that can help as well.

Does the black box totally eliminate the need for a laptop ?
Can you read & write to the PCM using the black box ?

Thanks >>>>> INTHERED

No.. only for logging.

You have to have a laptop to read and write.

Sorry if my post was unclear.

You Know, I just found out that Dan Gresham owns HP Tuners...
I had no idea...
When he owned Dynojet Research we worked together for a few years. If you get a chance, tell him Jeff G from Dynojet in Las Vegas said

Man I loved that guy. He is one cool dude.

Hi Brian,

The 2bar "should" be available for your application, but we won't know until you email the VIN to support so we can look it up.
RTT cannot be done on the 97/98 computers as they lack enough free ram to get the job done. You may be better off changing the VCM to a 99+ model.

Regards,
Ken

Im tempted to buy the program, but how hard is it to use. I dont want to screw up my current tune. I want to learn what my car is doing, and If a add another part to the car, how to touch up the tune.

If im just going to use it on my car, which program do I buy

Its probably thee most user friendly feature rich program available right now

Start with the demo's here http://www.hptuners.com/help/getting_started_demos.htm

This can help you get a feel of the program but its really only the tip of the iceburg as to what the program can do.

Hey guys! And a question for Ken:

I am interested in using your software over here in Germany. There´s one thing in the credit system that I didn´t fully understand so far (probably due to my lack of language?):

If I register a car (with VIN) on the HP Software (2 creds for C5) can I up- and download data as often as I want from it?
Meaning: I write a new program, upload it into the car, test-drive and want to recalibrate some stuff. Therefore I modify the file and upload the mod. Will that cost extra creds? Or is the car paid for as often as I want to mod the software? - Also, if I add a TT setup and have to recalibrate (1 extra cred I think it was) can I then do the same? Up- and download several times (from the same car) without spending extra credits?

Thanks a bunch,
Marc

Yes, you can flash your car as many times as you want once you license it. There are some users who have flashed their vehicle thousands of times.

Thanks! So that means no extra credit. Cool!

One more thing. (Not wanting to hijack this post) With a boosted application, I´d go for a 2Bar SD tuning run... What exactly do I have to modify on my car (except the TT setup itself of course) to do so. Just replace the MAP sensor with a 2Bar and that´s it?

You will need to apply the 2bar SD operating system modification on the VCM and rewrite the entire VCM with the new code. From there all you need is your 2bar map sensor.

Here is a demonstration on how to apply the enhancement:
http://www.hptuners.com/help/demos/2%20bar%20sd.swf

(This and more can be found on our online users guide link under Demos).

Thanks, I really appreciate this. Do you think that at the same time, one should upgrade to wideband O2?
