Default colum lock relay location?

i have a 99 c5 and am having the colum lock issue, it has been at the dealer for 4 days and they are clueless, the recall was done a few years ago and the "k" harness relay is getting very hot when the key is on and the fuel is cut off at 2 mph, does anyone know where the main relay is located? i have heard there is one above the bcm on the passenger side? if so, which one is it? i have tried a clb and it also does not work, i get the pull key 10 sec msg, i got rid of a nice G35 coupe for the pile of junk, no wounder GM is in trouble, i will never buy another one!

Don't be hating on the corvette for some rice burner, just cause you have one problem.

I had the same problem a last year. It cost about $500 - $600 to get it fixed. You probably have a column lock motor failure, and I quote from the GM could help a soul customer service center, "IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL, since it is not a part listed on the recall"

I have been fighting them for 1 and 1/2 years now. I am looking into this class action that has been discussed on this forum. Let you know what comes of it. Doubtful.

Anyways. You have to take apart the column and remove the column lock plate.

Did you get your recall letter in the mail, if this happens take it in. Well, now is your chance. DO NOT LET THEM REPLACE ANYTHING, just have the cloumn lock plate removed and reprogram the PCM, so it doesn't try to activate it.

Hopefully, you didn't have any accidents or damage to the car. Search the web for the new 04006C recall issued this FEB 2006. Take that to the dealer.

Hope this helps.

Default column lock's got me down.

my ride has been in the shop for a week now for a column lock malfunction, they have tried replacing the k harness that the recall put in and that does not work, gm says replace the lock actuator and install a new bcm for $800 and "maybe" this will fix the prob, it gets better, the a-hole tech at the dealer in tx where the lock plate was removed tourqued the wheel on so hard the dealer can not remove it without serrious damage to my wheel and or column which i will also have to pay for, does anyone know if the new actuator has to be mounted back in its original place or can it just be zip tied under the dash somewhere and leave the old one in place? i am to the pont of parking the car beside an open flame and going inside till the fire dept arrives to tell me my vette is melted plastic now! no one at GM has a clue, i bought a CLB but the dealer will not install it, they said they would have to get the car running and i could do what ever with it when i paid my bill and left! is replacing the BCM a common prob with this issue? i would have bought a ford if i wanted to be stranded! please help!
